What ShinePhone does
ShinePhone is an end-user app for monitoring power generation, battery state of charge, household consumption and grid interaction across Growatt inverters, batteries and dataloggers — from one dashboard, on iOS and Android.

ShinePhone is Growatt's free mobile app for monitoring and managing solar, battery and home-energy systems. This independent site explains what it is, how it fits the Growatt ecosystem, and how to get the most from it.

Three things to understand before you set it up.
ShinePhone is an end-user app for monitoring power generation, battery state of charge, household consumption and grid interaction across Growatt inverters, batteries and dataloggers — from one dashboard, on iOS and Android.
Homeowners and small commercial sites with a Growatt PV inverter, hybrid inverter, micro inverter or storage battery. Installers usually rely on ShineTools or the ShineServer web portal for commissioning at scale.
ShinePhone is the user-facing piece of Growatt's monitoring stack. The ShineServer web portal is the same data on a desktop. ShineTools is a lightweight installer utility. All three talk to the same datalogger hardware.
ShinePhone has been on the App Store since 2013 and has crossed a million installs on Google Play. Here are the numbers that matter.
2013
ShinePhone arrives on iOS as the companion app for Growatt's early PV inverter line.
2018
Adoption follows Growatt's expansion in Europe and Australia residential markets.
2023
Dynamic electricity-tariff optimisation rolls out in EU markets with day-ahead pricing.
2026
Latest releases tune export-limit settings, fix WIT model bugs and extend the storage device catalog.
The app is one node in a chain that flows from your panels and battery up to the cloud and back to your phone.
Your phone — the dashboard, alerts and remote settings.
ShineServer / OSS — stores history and powers the web portal.
ShineWiFi-X / -S / -LAN / -WeLink — bridges hardware to the cloud.
MIN / SPH / SPF / TLX / MIC — converts DC to usable AC.
APX / ARK / NOAH — stores and releases stored energy.
NEO 800 / 2000 — per-panel conversion for small installs.
Data flows: hardware → datalogger → Growatt Cloud → app. Settings flow the same path in reverse.
Average store rating is 2.4★ on iOS and 2.9★ on Android. Many of the complaints are legitimate — here are the four that show up most often, with what you can do about each one.
ShinePhone is not a true real-time stream. Most plants update every 1–5 minutes; some users see longer gaps. Marketing copy that calls it "real-time" overstates this.
What to do: Lower the time-increment in the device tab (some users set it to 0.2 for finer granularity). If the gap is longer than 5 minutes, restart the datalogger first.
The most common pain point. Growatt dataloggers only support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi — 5 GHz-only networks will fail silently. Pairing also tends to drop when the dongle is far from the router.
What to do: Confirm your router exposes a 2.4 GHz SSID, move the dongle within line-of-sight if possible, or use the ShineWiFi-LAN Ethernet adapter instead.
Both stores show low aggregate scores. They reflect a real history of UX rough edges plus a vocal subset of users with offline-detection issues that mix the app and the dongle.
What to do: Skim the most recent 4★ reviews on each store — they capture how the app behaves today, after several rounds of updates, much better than older 1-star reviews.
Not every inverter or battery exposes every setting through the app. Some 24 V models lack voltage controls; some units don't allow remote power-cycling.
What to do: Check your specific model's manual before relying on remote control as a primary workflow. ShineServer's web portal sometimes exposes settings the mobile app doesn't.
Two different teams. Worth being clear about which is which.
ShinePhone is built and maintained by Shenzhen Growatt New Energy Technology Co., Ltd — the same company that designs the inverters, dataloggers and batteries it talks to. Founded in 2010, headquartered in Shenzhen, China.

Because the App Store and Google Play averages are below 3 stars and a lot of the complaints are legitimate. Pretending otherwise would waste your time. We surface the four most common pain points — and what to do about each — so you can make an informed decision before installing.
ShinePhone is the end-user mobile app. ShineServer is the same data on a web portal. ShineTools is a lightweight installer utility for commissioning. Shiner is a separate product line used for some US installs. All four talk to the same datalogger hardware.
