Step-by-step guide to install the SIM card, wire the RS-232 connection, and register the Growatt Shine3G/ShineGPRS data logger in the ShinePhone app.
This quick guide walks you through setting up the Growatt Shine3G / ShineGPRS data logger: installing the SIM card, connecting it to the inverter, and adding it to your account in the ShinePhone app.
Step 1 — Install the SIM card
Remove the waterproof gasket, unscrew the screws, then open the shell and take out the PCB board, install the SIM card, put the PCB board back into its shell, tighten the screws and put on the waterproof gasket.
Note
- If there is already a SIM card in the data logger, skip this step.
- Don't touch other parts on the PCB board.
Step 2 — Electrical connection
A. If there is a DIP switch next to the RS-232 port, set DIP 1 to "ON". Then plug in the Shine3G/ShineGPRS and lock the screws.
B. If there is no DIP switch, poke out the small rubber plug from the screw hole adjacent to the RS-232 port. Plug into the RS-232 port and lock the screws.
Step 3 — Register and add the device
Search for "ShinePhone" on Google Play or the App Store, or scan the QR code below to download and install the app.

- Please install the latest version.
- For more details, refer to the content on server.growatt.com.
- Connect your mobile phone to the router's Wi-Fi.
- Run ShinePhone, register a user and fill in the user information.
- Enter the SN and check code of the Shine3G/ShineGPRS — or just scan the QR code on it — to add the data logger to your account.
- After successful registration, log in and go to "My power plants", then tap "+" in the top-right corner to check whether the data logger is online.
- Tap the "Device" tab at the bottom to open the device page, where all detailed information of the PV system can be viewed.
LED status and KEY button
You can check the connection status of the Shine3G/ShineGPRS by the blue LED light beside the KEY button.
| Blue LED | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Steady on | Device initialization |
| Off | No device found on the RS-232 port |
| Fast flash (0.2s cycle) | Device found on the RS-232 port |
| Slow flash (1s cycle) | Network communication is normal |
- Press and hold the KEY button for more than 6 seconds to restore factory settings.
- Short press the KEY button to restart the device.
